Austrian clothes fit into everyone's busy life; always smart and elegant, they adapt to both formal and workaday occasions with ease and panache. The fabrics are top quality natural fibres such as linen, cotton, silk, and cashmere, wool, camelhair and are often blended with each other and sometimes with state-of-the-art micro-fibres and other synthetics to enhance their adaptability, wearability and to accommodate the weather. Designs are derived from classic Austrian national costume (trachtenmode) such as the dirndl,  the collarless jacket and boiled wool (walkloden), which express Hungarian, Styrian, Turkish and other ethnic influences. This gives the clothes chic and a dashing quality that is lacking in most other Western European clothes. These qualities are not forced like normal "looks" of fashion, because they flow naturally from a long tradition of garment-craft and design which date from medieval times. There is a nobility about them which springs from their pedigree: they are echt und edel (real and noble).
